It formed in February 1931, with membership mushrooming in Sydney and other metropolitan areas in the final days of the Scullin government. It lasted until February 1932, when it merged with the Nationalists to form the New South Wales branch of the United Australia Party (UAP).

Joseph Lyons was a key figure in the formation of the All for Australia League and was elected unopposed as the leader of the UAP. Lyons became Prime Minister after the UAP won an absolute majority in the December 1931 election.
