The donor of this badge, John Ellis, writes:

As a long-time supporter of socialism as the better system under which to live, I wore this anti-capitalism badge to May Day marches. I wore this badge as a protest against what I consider to be out-of-control capitalism. It is a statement against the power of big business, the exploitation of small communities and the unequal distribution of wealth. It is a protest against the over-consumerism that occurs under capitalism and which leads to the degradation of our environment. I wore [this badge] to let people know how I felt and hopefully to influence them. When wearing the badge, it was a connection with other activists.
